Strange discovery about the Fingerprint Reader

So after using my Galaxy S6 for a few days I've noticed some strange things about the fingerprint reader.

First of all, not all fingers are equal. I set it up to my right thumb at first and this finger unlocks the phone blazing fast and never fails. I've literally never had it fail once this whole week.

If I had to guess I'd say 0.5 seconds unlock time. I decided to add my right index finger for when it's sitting on a table. My right index finger unlocks painfully slow in comparison. About 2.0 seconds. I've tested it again and again 50 times in a row and the right thumb is always 0.5 seconds and the right index finger taking 2.0 seconds. There's a huge noticeable difference. Also the right index finger will fail maybe 2/10 tries. I've tried removing the finger print and adding it multiple times with the same results each time.

I then added my left thumb thinking maybe the bigger size of the finger helps, however my left thumb unlocks noticeably slower as well it seems like 1.2 seconds, not as slow as the right index finger. Again I've tried removing and re adding this finger with no changes.

Another weird thing I noticed is that it's just the time it takes for it to "think" about the fingerprint that's longer. I can put my right thumb on the sensor for just a fraction of a second and then half a second later is when the phone unlocks, so it's already got the scan of the finger and then is just processing it I guess? And again I can put my right index finger on the sensor for just a fraction of a second and then take it off, then it just sits there longer before finally unlocking. So it seems that it has to take longer to "think" about my right index fingerprint. The actual scanning time again is very fast if I put it on and take it off before the phone actually unlocks.

I was wondering why in some reviews people claim it's faster than the iPhone 6 and in some they say it's worse. My right thumb on the S6 is much noticeably faster than unlocking my girlfriends iPhone 6 and more accurate as well (yes she let me add my fingerprint :P)

However if reviewers are getting the speed that I get with my right index finger I can definitely see how they say it's slower and less reliable.

Anyone else notice this?

EDIT: Just had another thought, maybe it goes through the list in order checking which fingerprint your finger is matching up to? That would explain why my first finger I added is always super fast. However it wouldn't explain reviewers/other people saying the scanner is noticeable slower than the iPhone 6 when I can guarantee it's the other way around.
